“Tags for (extra) Bags” are available for items that do not fit in the approved containers for $2.00 each at participating Kroger stores, or through the 311 Helpline, or online at www.houstontx.gov/solidwaste.    Yard trimmings must be contained in city-approved, biodegradable bags or bundled in 4-ft lengths and placed at the curb on collection day. Bags of yard trimming and leaves may contain only compostable plant material.

CURBSIDE RECYCLING

Recyclables are collected at the curb every other Monday using the city’s single-stream rolling bins. Residents may place newspapers, magazines, glass, aluminum and tin cans, advertising mail, flattened corrugated cardboard (and boxes), and plastic bottles (#1-5, and 7) in the green  recycling bins provided by the City. No sorting is required. [Note: Boxes larger than 3’x3’ should be left for Heavy Trash collection crews in even months.]

Visit  www.houstontx.gov/solidwaste/Recycle_Cal.pdf for the recycling schedule and drop off locations.  Call 311 to request a bin or to report missed collection.
